In 1999, the FCE Training College was established in Zambia and is at present situated at FCE’s main training centre at Koti ni Eden on the banks of the Kafulafuta River, 35 km south of Luanshya. Through the years students have come from various southern and central African countries for training to FCE and during this time different training programmes were added. Visit our website fce.org.za to view the different training.
All training programmes are firmly established on a Biblical foundation and all training takes place from a distinct Christ-centred perspective.
At the beginning of 2014, the college was officially upgraded to university status with the right to confer degrees in Education. As from June 2014 the FCE University College officially offers a B.Ed degree in Primary Education. The degree course was developed to contribute in improving the quality of teaching and learning in primary schools in Africa and for training in school leadership and management. As we realised that full-time study will not be an option for 90% and more of all serving primary school teachers in Sub-Saharan Africa, the only way to give them an opportunity to upgrade to degree level, is through distance education. Hence we investigated different options. In the end, we believe God guided us to develop an online internet based fourth year for upgrading students with a teaching diploma in primary education to degree level. The degree programme will be piloted from June 2014 and thus only be opened for a selected few students during the first year. As from June 2015 it will be open for anyone who meets the minimum requirements.
The degree will be fully acknowledged by the Department of Education in Zambia. However, students from other countries will have to apply for recognition of this qualification at their own Departments of Education.
